I checked out the Dennis Hopper exhibit, Double Standard, at MOCA while in LA this weekend. It was an amazing collection of sculptures, paintings, photography, and film by the late actor/artist. The photos were my favorite as they captured all the interesting people, places and eras of Hopper's life. This is probably THE most beautiful collection I've ever seen. The Frida Kahlo references ("Her three obsessions: religion, sensuality, and... the human anatomy") are beautifully interpreted and the intricate craftsmanship is breathtaking. Some recent favorite acquisitions: The stars in the top pic are 80's Escada (!) clip-ons. I've been wearing the blue and gold v-neck choker with everything including t-shirts and party dresses. The hand-painted brass elephant cuff has also been getting lots of wear, and the geometric earrings on the bottom with the "confetti" effect are so amazing, the picture doesn't do them justice. The rest of the pieces are the icing on the cake. All circa 60's-80's.
